I am sure he will be very happy to sip his whiskey and get a good nights sleep while we freeze our ass off and push our bodies to their limits.
Here's to a massive weekend, may we all return safe and sound but totally exhausted.

This is Craig's race review.

Hi Tommy.

As for yesterdays race I'm still over the moon. The points table before the race was: Paul Adams 258, and I was on 255. Basically if I finished in front of Paul I would win the series and vice verse.
Illinbah track is widely regarded as the most daunting of our series thanks to its relentless climb in the middle as well as a very technical down hill section. The climb is quite steep with many tight switch backs that were still muddy and slippery from the recent rain.
Given the week prior wasn't exactly what you would call good for me I was very concerned about my energy levels so my plan was to follow Paul for the first 3 laps, let him set the pace and go past him on the last lap, hopefully. The first lap I did exactly that with Paul sitting in 3rd and me in 4th. First and second were just up ahead and not pulling away.
At the start of the second lap the guys in front didn't seem to want to pick up the pace and with Paul being a strong finisher and me not knowing how my energy levels would last I decided to change my race plan and make a break for it. I figured if i could get a good leed I would be able to coast home if my energy levels run out. The track generally had good grip so I put the pedal down and by the start of the 3rd lap I had made a handy leed. I kept the pace up for the 3rd lap and by the start of the last lap I knew I just had to be smart and the race was mine.
The hill climb on the last lap did really start to hurt. I knew I just had to get to the top and they wouldn't catch me from there. At the top my legs felt like they were going to explode but with the down hill straight after I got the rest i needed. Paul had made his way into 2nd but was still way back. The last couple of kms I made sure I didn't over do it and when I crossed the finish line the pain suddenly didn't matter. Paul came in 49 seconds later. The final points tally was 335 with Paul on 323, ending his 3 year reign on the vets category. Very close series which made for great racing.
A huge thank you again to Tommy and Nadine for all their support. They really have been great. Thanks also to Gillie for pointing me in the right direction, Mike at Enviro, the boys from Body Spanner and Data # 3. Not to mention thankyou to Shane and Johno for making me work my but off. I do plan on returning the favor. Bring on the champs.

Regards,
Craig Shepperson
The course had some steep climbs with some technical descents. Craig led from the start of the race and was never caught. His closest rival tried to come back at him towards the end of the race but to no avail. If Craig wins the next race he will win the overall series.
The race was full of excitement. It was a complete team effort with each team member putting in 100% plus then digging even deeper to find a little bit more when it was needed. We were racing head to head for 2nd place with another team Chain Reaction / Red Back Cycles after 20 hours of racing we were only seconds apart. In the end our team took the 2nd position, 1st spot went to the Elite Merida Cycles Team which were in a league of their own but next year we hope to be up to their standards to be able to take them on.

Well with the year well under way I am now on a mission to keep an updated blog for you to read and see what we are up to.
I believe that Fit TO Excel Trainers should always be striving towards some thing physical, and challenging themselves. This is going to be blog about Fit To Excel trainers so you can see that we are walking the talk.
In the last month we have had Ben come third in the TRE-X Series which is in basic an off road triathlon, consisting of a swim, mountain bike and bush run. If you want to learn more about these events or train for this event drop us an email Contact Us.
I raced my first 6 hour endurance mountain bike race in the weekend. After training for the past 2 months it was time to see if the results would follow. The event is called the 6 hour inferno race which is quite accurate it is hot. When the horn sounded we all took off on a 6 hour journey of pure joy. The pace was high, it was go time the dust flew off the tryers, in the back of my head I knew I had 6 hours of this but it's like an animal takes over and you want to go flat out. My race was about to be slowed down, I was only 7 min in and we were snaking our way down through the first rock garden it was tyre for tyre when I heard the dreaded sound of my rim hitting a rock and the following sound of air rushing from my tyre. I quickly replaced the tube and fired up all cylinders and hit the gas. It was a great race, there were some very fast riders there on the day, with one of the best tracks I have ridden. After 3 hours on a bike hitting rocks and ruts it was an easy option to pull out, but all the training and effort it was no option I watched the time work its way down and as this happened I started to pick up my times My goals was for even lap times and to finish. I achieved my goals, finishing 12th in a field of 42.
Whats next well this coming weekend we have the Sunshine Series Cross Country Race at Illinbah near the Gold Coast, it is a very tough track my goal for this event is to finish the race and again ride a smart race with strong finish I am racing in a grade which is a little above me, but hay you have to challenge yourself right. Then we have our first 24 hour race for the year the Titus 24 hour. I can not wait for this, the team is pumped and we are planning on a weekend of fun and hopefully placings, BRING IT ON!
Again if you are interested in getting into mountain biking I am more than happy to help you Contact Us

Welcome to our new website. Stay tuned as we will be improving on it all the time.

Well it's that time of year, plenty of Christmas cheer! What a year we've had. We've met some amazing people in 2008. As we saw many hit massive highs, we've also encouraged people through some challenging lows. It's the best feeling to see someone take on life and all of it's challenges. The lessons need to be learnt, it just depends on how much you want to learn and how many times you have to learn the same lesson.

It's a great time to reflect on the past year and then look to the future so you are geared to take life on by the horns.
The question is...do New Years resolutions work? Well why can't they if you set them right? Say you decide to get fit this year after a couple of beers, the chance is slim right? What if you take 10 minutes to set some realistic goals, write them down and set some action steps. You are well on you way to success. Is your health worth 10 minutes? WE HOPE SO!
